I wrote this song thinking of a 9 year-old friend of mine who is very dear to me. Over the past year, I've taken care of her like a sister.
It ought to be my mission to walk along side those I encounter on my path. Look around you - hear the needs, love and walk with them.
lyrics
The moon is up but she can’t sleep,
Nine years tough, but acting sweet
The worst the day, the better the dreams,
Of floating away on window beams
Only to wake up with makeup on her sleeves
Love is a music box,
Everybody hums but no one talks
Everybody runs but no one walks,
What will we become if the music stops?
Brokenhearted, like the toys
She tries to play with, underjoyed
I pray to God one day she knows
She isn’t worthless
And all at once, I’m so amazed
At how she glows when Jesus saves
And all I know is how to pray
For daddy’s little princess
Love is a music box,
Everybody hums but no one talks
Everybody runs but no one walks,
What will we become if the music stops?
Pushing out my lungs only made me cough
Acting all strong only threw me off,
But as I sing along to the music box,
Daddy’s little princess is a little less lost
Love is a music box,
Everybody hums but no one talks
Everybody runs but no one walks,
What will we become if the music stops?

Marika is what bright, new solo artists from Montreal should sound like.
With a whole mess of familiarity and
just a tinge of strange, her unique sound peaks its flagship debut out from the sordid indie alternative pop fog to remind us that good music still exists. She dives into disparate genres every song and makes no excuse for it.
